CHARLOTTE – Three attorneys of the Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman law firm in Charlotte recently earned certification from the North Carolina State Bar in their primary areas of practice.

Earning certification by the bar’s Board of Legal Specialization were:

• Gregory L. Kunkleman in real estate law.
• Danica L. Little in estate planning and probate law.
• Steve B. Ockerman in family law. 

“Certification is proof of an attorney’s dedication to mastering a field of practice and it also speaks of high regard among peers and judges,” said Robert Norris, a partner in the Charlotte office of Wishart Norris. “Certified attorneys pass a rigorous test that demonstrates their overall knowledge. We are certainly proud of Danica, Greg and Steve.”

Those who are certified also must have practiced at least five years in their field of specialty and must attend continuing education courses regularly, Norris said.

Kunkleman has practiced law for 30 years, 28 of them with Wishart Norris. He practices in financial workouts, foreclosure defense and land use and offers development counseling in addition to working in his specialty of real estate law. He earned his undergraduate degree in from Davidson College in 1977 and his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1980, the same year he passed the North Carolina Bar exam. He holds a North Carolina Broker’s License and obtained his South Carolina law license in 2005.

Little joined Wishart Norris in 2004, shortly after graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Florida State University College of Law. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s in Accountancy from the University of South Florida in 1999 and 2001, respectively. She also practices in business, taxation and personal planning.

Ockerman completed his law degree at Washington University School of Law in 1991 while serving as a communications officer in the US Marine Corps. The 1983 graduate of the US Naval Academy joined Wishart Norris in 2003, shortly after completing 20 years in the military. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
