Treadwell, Whitaker Win Partnership In Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman Print E-mail

BURLINGTON – Two attorneys at Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman in Burlington have attained partnership in the firm. They are Kathleen Treadwell and Hillary Whitaker.

A Burlington native, Treadwell practices in family law and labor and employment law. After practicing in Vicksburg, MS, for four years, she returned to her hometown in 2006 to join the Wishart Norris firm.

A runner who competes in triathlons, she is the daughter of Pat and Kevin Fitzgerald of Burlington.

Treadwell got a bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999. She earned her law degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2002. She was associate articles editor of the Mississippi Law Journal and a member of the Moot Court Board.

She serves on the boards of the Alamance Regional Medical Center Charitable Foundation, the Alamance Medication Assistance Program, the Open Door Clinic and Healthy Alamance and on the advisory board for Alamance County Recreation and Parks. For the last two years, she has been in the campaign cabinet for the United Way of Alamance County.

Treadwell recently was named to the Triad Business Journal’s “40 Leaders Under 40” for 2010.

Professionally, Treadwell is active in the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and has served on the editorial board of The Young Lawyer, an American Bar Association publication.

Whitaker practices family law with an emphasis on equitable distribution, alimony, child custody, child support and adoptions. Whitaker has been with Wishart Norris in Burlington since 1995.

She is a NC Dispute Resolution Certified Family Financial Mediator and a member of the Triad Collaborative Family Law Practice Group. She has been active with the Family Law Section of the NC Bar Association and has co-chaired two committees. She serves on the executive committee of the Alamance County Bar Association.

Whitaker completed her bachelor’s in English at Davidson College in 1992 and earned her law degree at Wake Forest University School of Law in 1995.
