Brown Of Wishart Norris Wins Accreditation As Veterans Affairs Attorney Print E-mail

BURLINGTON – Charlie D. Brown of the Burlington office of Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman has won accreditation as a Veterans Affairs attorney.

He can represent clients in proceedings before the US Department of Veterans Affairs and advocate for clients who file Veterans Affairs claims.

“I now work with wartime veterans and their surviving spouses to get Veterans Affairs pension for aid and attendance,” said Brown. “This comes into play when a veteran is bedridden, a patient in a nursing home or is incapacitated and requires regular care for normal living activities.”

When they become unable to live unattended, Brown said, wartime veterans or their surviving spouses often are eligible for a Veterans Affairs pension. Brown can help them determine eligibility and to receive any benefits that are due.

Also a board-certified specialist in estate planning and probate law, Brown is serving on the Estate Planning and Probate Law Specialty Committee of the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specializing. His term started in April 2009 and will continue until April 2012.

Brown, who joined the Burlington office of Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman in 1997, frequently lectures on elder law, tax and estate topics to attorneys, accountants and community groups. Besides estate planning and taxes, he counsels clients on elder law, asset protection, Medicaid, business succession planning and special needs, disability and creation and administration of charitable foundations.

He was listed in the statewide 2009 Legal Elite by Business North Carolina magazine. The same year, he was included as a “Rising Star” among North Carolina attorneys by Super Lawyers, a by-state ranking of those in the legal profession printed in Charlotte Magazine.

Brown graduated Magna Cum Laude in Music and Communications from Wake Forest University in 1992, where he attended on an A.J. Fletcher Music Scholarship. He earned a master’s of Business Administration and his law degree from Wake Forest, both in 1997.

The son of Dan and Sandra Brown of Clayton, Brown married his high school sweetheart and has three children. He is active in local theater, along with his children, and has appeared in Community Theater of Greensboro’s “Peter Pan” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman, P.A., concentrates on serving the needs of closely held businesses and individuals in the areas of business, litigation, taxation, succession planning, estate planning, real estate and land use, family law and employment.
